British firms choose Lombardy

According to the Observatory of British Investments in Italy, the presence of British firms in Lombardy is quite significant.There were 959,567 companies registered in Lombardy at the end of 2007  (33.9 active companies per km2 and 84.3 companies per 1,000 inhabitants).
The business community consists of companies focused on manufacturing and advanced services whose employment and production dimensions are significant compared to the national average.
The survey, conducted by Deloitte in collaboration with the British Chamber of Commerce in Italy, shows that the revenues of UK companies in Lombardy exceeds € 6 billion.
And this presence is destined to grow, since new mergers and acquisitions of majority interests are planned.

British companies find Lombardy particularly interesting because of economic, social and structural factors. Lombardy, in fact, offers:
  •  a market for their products and services
  •  the possibility of acquiring strategic assets and specialized human resources for their production
  •  the best financial and insurance market in Italy.
They also appreciate the greater flexibility in the labor market compared to the recent past.

The survey was conducted in March 2008.
