Trade in Lombardy in 2007
In 2007, Lombard exports exceeded € 100 billion, with an 8.6% increase over the previous year. Milan's exports (+7% on an annual basis) reached € 43,663 billion or 43% of the regional total.
The Lombard provinces that generated the most growth in exports were:
Mantua + 15%
Lecco + 12.4%
Brescia + 11.2%
Pavia + 10.9%.
The principal destinations for Lombard exports in 2007 were Germany (€ 14.3 billion), Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Exports to the United States declined because of the strong euro.
The key sectors for Lombard exports are:
mechanical equipment (€ 23,033 million)
metal products (€ 17,833 million)
chemical products and fibers (€ 13,052 million)
electronic equipment (€ 11,861 million)
textiles and apparel (€ 8,819 million)
transport vehicles (€ 7,912 million)
food and beverages (€ 3,681 million).
