Cultural Tourism

Although it is best known for its business and financial sector, Milan possesses many hidden artistic-cultural jewels that make it a small paradise for art lovers.
Here is a sampling:
  •  the numerous museums and exhibition spaces (Pinecoteca Brera, Royal Palace, Sforza Castle, The Triennale, Bagatti Valsecchi Museum, Poldi Pezzoli Museum, Mazzotta Foundation, Arnaldo Pomodoro Foundation, Science & Technology Museum, to name but a few)
  •  world-famous theaters, like La Scala
  •  religious sites and churches (Duomo of Milan, Santa Maria delle Grazie with Da Vinci's Last Supper, Sant’Eustorgio, Basilica of San Lorenzo Maggiore, Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio, among the best known)
  •  in addition to the magnificent monuments and precious works of architecture that make Milan a veritable open-air museum (including the well-known Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, Columns of San Lorenzo, the Arch of Peace and Litta Palace).
The wealth of monuments and architectural and historical-artistic works in the city recount the various historical periods of mankind through the centuries, from antiquity (4 %), to the Middle Ages (8%), the Renaissance (12%), the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries (9%, 10% and 20%, respectively), up to the 20th and 21st centuries (37%). Worthy of note is the ancient Roman theater hosted inside Turati Palace, HQ of the Milan Chamber of Commerce.
The city is also rich in opportunities for leisure and entertainment. In fact, there are numerous night spots and restaurants of the highest quality standards that make Milan one of the excellent meccas for food and wine connoisseurs.
Milan is also the world fashion capital. Its supremacy is well represented by the famous Quadrilateral, formed of streets lined with the shops of internationally acclaimed designers, where the best of Italian tailoring can be found.
A word should be reserved for design, a sector in which Milanese creativity blossoms, on display at the Museum of Design and the Milan Triennale, place where innovative ideas are born and flourish.
Craftsmanship is another area of excellence in Milan that  offers the opportunity to manifest the valuable products of local craftsmen.
And sports, particularly football, are also worthy of note. Each year, in fact, Milan hosts numerous prestigious international matches in its stadium, which can truly be regarded as a city monument: San Siro.

Thus history, art, culture and tradition blend in Milan, creating many itineraries that enable tourists to appreciate the beauty of a city with centuries of tradition but at the same time modern and in constant evolution, capable of enchanting visitors with its fascinating contrasts.
